The Knobby Tire Series is sanctioned by USA Cycling Mountain Bike (formerly NORBA). ALL racers must be licensed to race. You can either apply for an annual license through USA Cycling: www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php, or if you are a Beginner or Sport racer, you can purchase a one-day license either with early registration or on the day of the race. A one-day license is $10.
ALL Experts, Semi-Pros, and Pros MUST be USAC Mountain Bike annual license holders.
In order to qualify to win the Idaho State Championship title (this applies to both XC and Downhill): - You MUST BE A USAC MOUNTAIN BIKE (formerly NORBA) ANNUAL LICENSE HOLDER. This applies to ALL categories from Beginner to Pro. Sorry, no exceptions
- You MUST be a resident of the state of Idaho
You must race a minimum of three (3) Knobby Tire Series races. This does NOT include the Galena Marathon or the NW Collegiate race in September. You must be the highest single points earner in your category. If you move up a category during the calendar year, only half your points go with you. If you move down a category, NO points go with you.
In order to win the 2007 Knobby Tire Series Category title: - Be the highest points earner in your category, excluding the Galena Marathon and the NW Collegiate Cycling race in September.
- If you move up a category during the calendar year, only half your points go with you.
- If you move down a category, NO points go with you.
- For Sport and Beginner, no annual license is required in order to win the series category champion, but those riders without an annual license will not be qualified for the Idaho State Champion Category Title.
The Galena Idaho State Championship Marathon (Double XC): This race is NOT a points race for a cross-country KTS Series Title or the Idaho State Championship Cross-Country Title. However, it IS the Idaho State Championship Marathon Race. In order to qualify to win the State Championship Marathon title, you MUST be a resident of the state of Idaho and you MUST be a USAC Mountain Bike annual license holder.
We will offer an “Open” category for any racers who do not want to purchase an annual license for the Marathon. "Open" is a NON-USAC recognized category. You will not earn USAC Mountain Bike Ultra Endurance points. A one-day license is $10.
JUNIOR RACERS
The following races are part of the Alison Dunlap Junior Olympic MTB Schedule: - May 4 6th Annual Avimor Coyote Classic
- June 21 Epic Soldier Mountain March
- August 16 Silver Creek Pedal & Plunge
By competing in these races, this gives Junior racers the opportunity to attend USAC Regional Development Camps. To qualify, you must place in the top five of these categories: Sport 15-16/male, Sport 17-18/male, Expert 15-16/male, Expert 17-18/male, Sport 15-18/female, Expert 15-18/female. The invitations may be used for 2008 or 2009 camps.
USA Cycling's Regional Development Camps are well staffed, with USAC certified coaches and mechanics. These Coaches and mechanics teach the basics of training program design, nutrition, injury prevention, positioning, and mechanics. Camp staff includes the camp manager, lead coach, assistant coaches, athlete alumni, mechanics, and ride leaders.
2008 Regional MTB Camps: Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs, CO June 15 - 20 Desales University Center Valley, PA June 22 - 27 Brevard College Brevard, NC June 19 - July 4
The top-10 riders in both genders and all categories and age-groups in the ADJO-MTB will be qualified to compete at the 2008 USA Cycling National MTB Championships. Qualified riders will be posted to the USA Cycling website and extended invitations to compete via email and/or postal mail. Qualified riders must have an annual USA Cycling license in order to compete at the USA Cycling National MTB Championships.
